Kiss Me Cratchit

Mt sister challenged me to make 3 “A Christmas Carol” themed Cocktails. This is #2: Kiss Me Cratchit

Pucker up, this spin on a holiday sour is a chorus of cranberry, lemon, and gin, and will delight your taste buds. The mix of sweet and sour is a subtle nod to Bob Cratchit, the kind of person who would turn lemons into lemonade. And if Bob Cratchit were alive today (and also not a fictional character from a 19th century novella), he would turn that lemonade into delicious holiday cocktails and make one for his lady, Mrs. Cratchit. For the life of me, the only Cratchit couple I can picture is Kermit and Miss Piggy because I’ve watched the Muppet Christmas Carol every year for as long as I can remember. So, yeah, Kermit would TOTALLY make this drink for Miss Piggy and SHE would say “Kiss Me Cratchit!”

I suggest making a couple of these cocktails, snuggling up with your boo, and watching a nice holiday film. May I suggest the Muppet Christmas Carol?

Ingredients (makes 2 cocktails)

  • 4oz gin (Stillweather Spirits @stillweatherspirits West Coast Gin )

  • 4oz cranberry juice (R.W. Knudsen @rwknudsen Organic Just Cranberry)

  • .5oz lemon Juice (Santa Cruz Organic @santacruzorganic 100% Pure Lemon Juice)

  • .5oz water (to cut the lemon juice)

  • 1.5oz simple syrup

  • 1 lemon (for garnish)

  • Pomegranate seeds (for garnish)

  • Ice

Instructions

  • Add ice, and all liquids to a cocktails shaker

  • Shake it, shake, shake, shake, #shakeit (not like a polaroid picture)

  • Poor over ice and enjoy!

  • Garnish: Use a vegetable peeler to peel around the entire lemon two times (one long peel for each drink), curl the peel into a little flower shape and stick it on a cocktail toothpick. Sprinkle pomegranate seeds into each drink, because they look pretty.
