You asked for it, so here it is: themed holiday cocktails are back! This year’s luscious libations were inspired by nostalgic holiday desserts and some inexplicable cravings for some creative flavor combinations, which I’ve loosely connected to holiday films. Giddy up!
Decadent Dessert Cocktails
When given the choice, I reach for the salty snack over the sweet treat but this year something deep, deep inside me cried out for sugar and who am I to deny such instinctual urges? It is winter and my body is telling me to increase my intake of high calorie foods. Yes, I am a bear preparing for hibernation. Instead of cupcakes or cookies—or berries, nuts, and fish if we’re sticking with the bear thing—I dreamed up a couple of decadent dessert-inspired cocktails.

Creating dessert-inspired drinks got me thinking about what other food flavor combinations I could dream into cocktail form. Serving hot cocoa to my kids one cold and dreary afternoon, I wondered if I could make a spicy cold chocolate cocktail. On another unusually chilly afternoon, while sipping a golden milk latte, I wondered how I could jam some turmeric and coconut into a tasty adult beverage. After much trial and error, I present to you a couple of creatively delicious concoctions and for your enjoyment, and mine, I’ve loosely connected them to Christmas movies.
